It’s a Boy for Danny Gokey!

Congratulations are very much in order for Danny Gokey: The former American Idol finalist is a first-time father!

“Its Official, I’m a daddy!!!” Gokey Tweeted yesterday, adding that he & wife Leyicet Peralta are now the parents of Daniel Emanuel Gokey.

“Leyicet & I are overjoyed to welcome the new member of our family,” Gokey told People. “I’m ecstatic to be a first time dad & to have a new little buddy to hang out with.”

Gokey – who tragically lost his first wife after botched heart surgery in 2008 – & Leyicet received married last January. He added in a statement:

“Thankfully, because of what I do, it will moreover allow me the flexibility to spend a lot of quality time with him. I have so many thrilling projects ahead this year yet a brand new baby is an astonishing way to get the new year started. We feel really blessed!”
