350 lb. Running Back Rumbles to Hawaii
Note to defenders in the WAC next season: you might want to hit the weight room early.
David Fangupo, who stands 6’2″ and weighs in at 348 pounds, has committed to the University of Hawaii. Easily the biggest running back in Division I, he will be galloping through holes for coach Norm Chow in 2013.
Responding to the scholarship offered, the Hawaii native told West Hawaii Today: “I’m excited and feel blessed that they would do that for me.”
Fangupo had moreover received interest from BYU, Georgia Tech and Utah, along with a slew of junior colleges.
So, what made him select Hawaii?
“It’s just pretty much playing for my home team and family and being around people I know,” Fangupo said. “All the support from my family is still there.”
Fangupo rushed for 538 yards and 10 touchdowns on 74 carries in his senior season.
