New Trailer and Poster for Oscar-shortlisted Documentary, The Gatekeepers
Directed by Dror Moreh, The Gatekeepers has been one of the most prominent documentaries of the year, debuting at the Jerusalem Film Festival, & spending the past few months on the festival circuit, earning very promising reviews from critics all over.
The film has already been shortlisted in the Best Documentary category at the Oscars, & with less than two months before Sony Pictures Classics release it in the US, IMDb have debuted a new trailer & poster.
“For the first time ever, six former heads of Israel’s domestic secret service agency, the Shin Bet, share their insights & reflect publicly on their actions & decisions.
Since the Six Day War in 1967, Israel has failed to transform its crushing military victory into a lasting peace. Throughout that entire period, these heads of the Shin Bet stood at the center of Israel’s decision-making process in all matters pertaining to security. They worked closely with every Israeli prime minister, & their assessments & insights had—and continue to have—a profound impact on Israeli policy.
THE GATEKEEPERS offers an exclusive account of the sum of their successes & failures. In the process it sheds light on the controversy surrounding the Occupation in the latermath of the Six Day War.”
Sundance Film Festival will be hosting it in the Spotlight category next month, & if you’re heading to Park City, this looks like an unmissable documentary at the festival.
The Gatekeepers will likely be given a limited release in the US from 1st February, 2013, with SPC’s tendency to then open it across the country in successive weeks. No word yet on a UK release date, yet here’s to hoping we’ll be seeing it early in the New Year too. For now, here’s the new trailer & poster, which you can click through to enlarge.
